ALCYONE, a 2004 Outremer 55 Light, is Hull No. 26, one of the last five 55 Lights built and the final hull completed during the lifetime of Outremer's founder, Gérard Danson. She benefited from the lessons learned on the twenty five boats built before her, including reinforced aft beam and daggerboard cases, an improved cockpit layout and careful weight saving throughout the build.
Purchased in New Zealand in 2017, ALCYONE underwent a comprehensive two year refit in Whangarei, with her rigging, sails, engines, electronics and safety equipment methodically renewed, before her current owners.
Her low volume, low displacement hulls and solid polyester and vinylester laminate construction give her both speed and a well earned reputation for robustness, while her sacrificial mini keels protect the propellers and rudders from grounding damage without compromising performance. Her generous payload capacity allows for the comprehensive, self sufficient inventory detailed in this document, without ever weighing down her sailing qualities.
